55 Muslim countries to come to first OIC Summit on Science in Kazakhstan
“One more legacy of EXPO-2017 is the creation of the Center for Green Technology under the auspices of the UN. Now we are working with the special group in order to implement this project in addition to the creation of an international financial center”, – said Ye.Idrissov.
Also, it is planned to hold the ministerial conference on environmental issues under the auspices of the UN European Economic Commission in June 2017, which will consider the decision to establish the Center for Green Technology at the EXPO site.
At the same time, the foreign minister said that EXPO 2017 can become a venue for a number of global events such as the 16th Summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
“It will take place at the beginning of the exhibition, in June 2017. We expect the members of the SCO, its leaders to participate. The novelty of our summit will be the accession of India and Pakistan as full members to the Organization”, – added Ye.Idrissov.
In addition, another landmark event EXPO will be the first summit for Science and Technology of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
“It is a great achievement not only for diplomacy of our country, but also for the entire Islamic world”, – the Minister said.
The minister said that the OIC summit is scheduled for September.
“We expect heads of more than 55 Muslim countries to participate, the main theme is the modernization of the Islamic world”, – said the head of department.
