At the beginning of the meeting, a video address by former President Nursultan Nazarbayev was shown. In his speech, he praised the work of the program “Start a Business” for 5 years and noted the need to continue the project in Kazakhstan.
“As you know, comprehensive support for small and medium-sized businesses is one of the priorities of public policy. To this end, we have improved the relevant legislation, reduced the tax burden, reduced administrative procedures and increased access to credit resources. Due to this, the number of small and medium-sized businesses in the country has increased year by year, and the number of people working in this sector of the economy has increased, ”the President said.
According to him, a lot of work is being done to increase the number of people working in small and medium business to 4 million and its share in GDP to 35%. This task is clearly reflected in the program of the “Nur Otan” party “Path to Change: a life worthy of every citizen.”
“In 2016, I initiated the development of mass entrepreneurship in the country. Today, this initiative has become an important tool to achieve this goal. It emphasizes the need to support entrepreneurs in rural areas and small towns. Another key area of the initiative was the introduction of a system of financial literacy training to support start-ups, “he added.
He noted that the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs “Atameken” has launched the project “Start a Business”, which has become an important part of the program “Labor” for the development of productive employment and mass entrepreneurship.
“After graduation, business coaches will lead the projects of entrepreneurs throughout the year. Helps to solve the problem of a novice entrepreneur. This is especially important when business is under severe pressure due to the global pandemic. The prosperity of our country depends on the well-being of its citizens, so I wish good luck to all participants of the program “Start a Business”, which I appreciate. It is necessary to continue this program throughout the country, “Nursultan Nazarbayev said.
At the same time, the chairman of the presidium Timur Kulibayev reminded that the work on consideration of applications and issuance of money is in full swing.
Atameken microfinance organizations received about 2,000 applications. As a result of these microcredits, more than five thousand enterprises and at least ten thousand jobs are expected to be created, as well as an increase in tax payments to the budget. We can say with confidence that in five years “Start Business” has become a real people’s project, especially in rural areas, which has changed the lives of hundreds of thousands of Kazakhstanis. The project is in high demand in the settlements, ”Timur Kulibayev said.
At the exhibition, Bastau Business graduates present their products and services, from food, national textiles and jewelry, to construction equipment and correctional facilities. During the master class, the graduates talked about how to become an entrepreneur and presented their projects.
In 2021, 30 thousand Kazakhstanis received education under the program “Start a Business”. One of such graduates is Daniyar Abdrazak, who in 2019 took a course “Fundamentals of Entrepreneurship” under the project “Start a Business” and opened a greenhouse business in the field of lemon growing. He is a native of Zhambyl region, Merke district. According to him, after 7 months in South Korea, he decided not to move to a big city, but to stay in his native village and start growing lemons in a greenhouse, which he saw in Korea, using the lessons of “Start a Business”.
“Calculations have shown the effectiveness of the project. I studied the technology at a seminar organized by the Regional Chamber of Entrepreneurs “Atameken” in Zhambyl region, where the expert shared his experience and explained the specifics of this case. “In the same year, I participated in the competition for innovative grants under the program” Business Road Map 2020 “with the project” Growing Lemons “and won a grant of 2.5 million tenge,” he said.
According to him, this year lemon trees have borne fruit in the greenhouse. For example, each tree bears up to 15 kg of fruit.
“Now the residents of Merke district use lemons from their district. In the next 2-3 years, I plan to increase the lemonade to 3 hectares. In addition, I received a loan of 4 million tenge from the microfinance organization “Atameken-Taraz” for the development of additional breeding Gissar sheep, “said Daniyar Abdrazak.
He also thanked the project “Start a Business”, business coaches, the Chamber of Entrepreneurs “Atameken”, which helped to open and implement their business.
In addition, Bulekbay Kuanyshkaliev, a native of Atyrau region, said that he was proud to be a graduate of this project and told how he opened a workshop of national products by participating in the project.
“I have been a carpenter since childhood. Today, my works are found all over Kazakhstan, from the dombra to the male weaver. In May of this year, I completed the Startup project and won a grant. Before I started, I considered carpentry to be just a hobby. I never thought I would turn my hobby into a business. There was a lack of tools to do business. When I started, I had some confidence, ”he said.
He said that he realized that anyone with the desire and desire to do business is capable. During the 21-day course, he learned the ins and outs of entrepreneurship, thanks to which he won a grant and started his own business. Now they are collecting documents for a soft loan.
“I would like to say to those who, like me, dare to take a bold step and can not start a business – do not be afraid. Today there is a lot of support from the state for those who want to start a business. Now two of my students have opened a carpentry shop in Atyrau. And my dream is not only to make wood products, but also to open a school of craftsmen, which will continue the ancestral tradition. Another goal is to leave my mark on the art and culture of our people. Coming to the beginning, I am achieving many goals. I got the opportunity, “Bulekbay Kuanyshkaliev said.
Almat Nurmakhanov, a resident of Kostanay region, also shared his experience. He opened a camel farm.
“Five years ago, I studied at the Start a Business project and opened a camel farm. I bought camels on a soft loan. These funds gave a good impetus to my business, and 2 years later I received another loan of 5 million tenge. Camels are very rare in Kostanay region, so there is no competition. Due to this, our shubat quickly became popular. Today, the farm has 30 camels, ”he said.
He also said that this year he and his wife opened the first ethno-cafe in a yurt in Kostanay region to expand their business, where guests will be offered shubat and other national drinks and dishes.
“But we don’t want to stop there. In the future, we plan to open a full-fledged tourist base on the farm, where you can ride camels, relax in a yurt and enjoy national dishes. In my opinion, now Kazakhstan has all the conditions for start-ups. The state not only provides us with education, but also allows us to get start-up capital. The main thing is to work, to stick to your goals and continue to develop, ”he concluded.
According to the organizers, about 185 thousand people have learned the basics of entrepreneurship in five years. They have implemented 53 thousand business projects. Every third graduate of the Start a Business project has started a business. The graduates of the project created about 70 thousand jobs and paid more than 1.4 billion tenge in taxes. The project “Start Business” is implemented under the state program “Labor” for 2017-2021 for the development of productive employment and mass entrepreneurship.
Recall that the history of the project “Start a Business” began in 2016. The pilot project was launched in Munaily district of Mangistau region, Zhanaozen and Temir district of Aktobe region. Exactly one year later, “Start a Business” was adopted as a training format for the second direction of the state program “Labor” for the development of productive employment and mass entrepreneurship for 2017-2021. In 2017, 15 thousand people in the villages of 80 districts were trained and every fifth citizen (3 314 or 22%) implemented the project.
