30 energy startups to be selected in Astana for EXPO 2017
Top 100 startup projects from 37 countries gathered today in Astana to present technologies and compete for a place in the top 30 to be presented at EXPO 2017.
The main prize for 30 winners is the presentation of startups at EXPO 2017 international exhibition.
Moreover, invited investors and interested experts have expressed a desire to finance the implementation of the 5 best projects.
Startup Fest NewEnergy will attract new technologies in Kazakhstan, as well as new investments in energy and other sectors of Kazakhstans economy, and will positively influence the startups innovative development in Kazakhstan, Minister of Energy Kanat Bozumbayev noted opening the event.
However, along with providing unconditional benefits for Kazakhstan, the competition will help innovators in the field of energy and green technologies to find sponsors for the project, as well as foreign partners for the ideas effective promotion and improvement.
Most of the teams are represented by young engineers and technologists under 30.
Astana is the youngest fast-growing city in the world; the population has quadrupled since 1998 and reached 1 million people, while trade turnover has exceeded $40 billion. Moreover, young people aged 14 to 20 make up almost a half of our citys population, Akim of Astana Asset Issekeshev said, noting that pursuit of smart and energy efficient technologies is a priority for the capital of Kazakhstan.
According to the Akim, Astana has a large demand for innovative technologies, thus many initiatives presented today will have a success if being applied here in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan.
During the day the teams will be given 90 seconds to present the projects and attract local and foreign investors and experts in the energy field and to enter top 30 companies to be presented at EXPO 2017.
