285 presidential decrees and 2,875 government resolutions since 1991 ceased to be effective, First Deputy Minister of Justice of Kyrgyzstan Zarema Askarova told reporters.

She added that last year, Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov set a clear task for the government to conduct a large-scale inventory of all laws and bylaws, as well as decrees and resolutions in order to optimize and improve the operation of laws.

“In order to implement the task set by the president, an interdepartmental working group was created, which also included representatives of civil society, the business community, and experts. The working group studied in detail each law, decree, and bylaws. For the purpose of more informative work and professional approach, the Ministry of Justice developed manuals for the working group participants,” Askarova noted.

The deputy minister added that a full inventory of laws, decrees, ordinances and other regulatory legal acts identified 285 presidential decrees and 2,875 government resolutions as outdated and expired.
