2020 should become a year of economic achievements and sustainable development for the Kyrgyz Republic’s state bodies, Prime Minister Mukhammedkalyi Abylgaziev said at the meeting with heads of the country’s state bodies.

According to the Government’s press service, this meeting summed up the main results of work of state bodies for 2019 in the sphere of economy, finance, international relations, social and cultural spheres.

PM Abylgaziev noted last year was not easy and very important.

“We have achieved certain achievements, also there were some shortcomings in our work. 2019 was a year of stability and consolidation of society. The main priority for us is to improve the lives of citizens, to increase the budget, and to address social issues in a timely manner. In this direction, certain steps have been taken and fundamental changes have been launched,” the prime minister said.

Mukhammedkalyi Abylgaziev focused on a number of indicators achieved in 2019.

“Compared to 2017, GDP increased by KGS 110 billion, imports decreased by 8.2% and exports increased by 7.6%. For the first 9 months of 2019, the volume of investments in the republic amounted to $580 million, compared to 2018, the growth was 67.3%. The Business Ombudsman Institute has been established. In 2019, 8.5 million foreign citizens visited the republic, which is 1.5 million more than in 2018,” he said.

The Kyrgyz PM stressed this year a wide range of tasks had been set for ministries and departments.

“Such large investment projects as Jerooy, Chaarat ZAAV, Etibakyr-Tereksai, Kyrgyz Unaa Kurulush and Kyrgyz Textile, Metal Ken and Baden Service will start their activities in 2020.

In addition, a calculation center will be established this year to record losses in the energy sector and other important indicators. For the development of regions there is need to train citizens in entrepreneurship for more rational use of credit resources, investments and further implementation of their ideas and projects.

At the same time, it is important to develop and implement projects in the field of green economy, programs for financing projects in agriculture,” Mukhammedkalyi Abylgaziev added.

The head of the Kyrgyz Government stressed fiscalization of tax and customs procedures are priority direction of the Government for this year.

Particular attention should be paid to projects to provide the population with clean drinking water, to the development of public-private partnership in the implementation of socially important projects.

“2020 will be the year of financial discipline. This year’s important events will be the parliamentary elections, the national census and the Olympic Games in Tokyo, in which our athletes will also participate,” Mukhammedkalyi Abylgaziev concluded.
