14 children received assistance from Adoption Support Center in Kokshetau
“Adoption Support Center” has operated in Kokshetau since June 2016. During this period it found families for 14 orphans, the regional communication service of Akmola region reported.
“Our goal is Kazakhstan without orphans. One of the main conditions for a fully-fledged, comfortable social development of a child is family well-being. It is very important for us that the child grows up in the family”, Kuralay Dzhumabekova, an employee of Adoption Support Center for Akmola region, said.
Within the framework of this project the School of Foster Parents has been established in Akmola region, which operates on a regular basis. The school is run by practicing psychologists. The message says that their training program for potential adoptive parents is based on the international experience and adapted for Kazakhstan. The program consists of 12 modules (3 hours each). It allows the potential adoptive parents to make an informed, measured decision, prepares parents and family for the child from the orphanage.
In the same way, future parents are taught to have basic knowledge in the field of medicine, law, pedagogy and psychology, that is, knowledge about the characteristics of an orphan child, the specifics of child’s family life form, ways of effective parenting and caring for a child. During a short period of the school’s work, 18 families were trained, 11 of whom had already adopted the children.
It should be noted that in the republic since January 2017 another form of the family device “Foster Family” has worked, where it is possible to accept for upbringing not less than four and not more than ten orphans, children left without parental care.
