Turkmenistan will join the Cooperation Council of Turkic-Speaking States (Turkic Council) as an observer, the Business Turkmenistan website reported, Turkmenportal reported citing the Interfax-Azerbaijan news agency.

As you know, on November 12, Istanbul will host the 8th summit of the heads of state of the Turkic Council. Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu announced the preparations for the summit at a press conference in Ankara:

– Today, at the meeting of the foreign ministers of the Turkic Council countries, the agenda of the eighth summit of the heads of state of the organization, which will be held in Istanbul on November 12, was discussed. This summit will take historic steps for the Council.

At the end of June this year, the Turkmen capital hosted a meeting of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov with the Secretary General of the Turkic Council Baghdad Amreev, who arrived in Ashgabat on a working visit. The topic of the conversation was the possibility of Turkmenistan joining the Turkic Council.

The Cooperation Council for Turkic Speaking States was established in October 2009. The current members of the Council are Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Turkey.
