Turkmen railways» Agency and Company “Russian Railway International” (enters into holding “Russian Railway”) signed the memorandum of mutual understanding, laying the foundation for mutually beneficial cooperation for definition, study and realisation of infrastructural projects in the field of railway transportation in the territory of Turkmenistan, ORIENT reported.

During the meeting of the Turkmen-Russian intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation which was held in Ashkhabad this week, Ilya Kazakov, assistant director general of “Russian Railway International”, stated that the company is ready to provide the complex approach to railway projects which it is planned to realise in Turkmenistan, including performance design, civil and erection works, delivery of the equipment and other technical resources, and also the organisation of training for preparation of experts of the branch.

In addition to the aforesaid, the representative of the Russian side noted that within the limits of the proposal on modernisation and electrification of railways of Turkmenistan, possibility to adjust manufacture of ties and support of contact system is also put forward.

In turn, chairman of «Turkmen railways» Agency Azat Atamyradov expressed interest in the technologies used by the Russian company, and adjustment of cooperation with it as to exchange of experience between experts of profile project institutes, and practical building of railways.

Besides the conclusion of the memorandum, the party agreed to bring issues of development of cooperation in the railway transportation sphere in the agenda of the nearest meetings of the Turkmen-Russian intergovernmental commission.

The fact that this area of economic interaction between two countries assumes considerable importance today, recent delivery from Russia two diesel locomotives – for cargo and passenger structures testifies also to this. Delivery was carried out within the limits of agreements with joint-stock company «Kolomenskii factory» and Bryansk machine-building factory.
