The solution to the global fight against climate change lies in achieving consensus among the countries participating in this event, UnaMay Gordon, senior advisor on Climate Change and Development at the International Institute for Environment and Development, said during the Climate and Development Ministerial Conference held in Baku as part of PreCOP, APA reports.

According to her, the parties must make efforts to achieve effective results at the 29th Session of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) that will be held in Baku: “The agenda of the 29th Session of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), to be held in Baku, centers around finding ways to protect our planet from climate change and ensuring funding in this regard. The solution to this issue lies in achieving consensus among the countries participating in this event. First and foremost, all interested countries must focus on resolving matters related to finance and its effective allocation. To this end, there is a n
eed for productive discussions. COP29 will serve as the most optimal and effective platform for such discussions. Because representatives from many countries and international organizations will come together to engage in intense dialogue. I believe that the agreement on climate finance that will be reached between the heads of state of the participating countries, or rather, the provision of sustainable financial resources for the fight against the climate change problem, will lead to important benefits for the future of our planet.”
