SHUSHA: President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has achieved what many thought was impossible – Karabakh has returned home, said Leonid Slutsky, head of the Russian State Duma Committee on International Affairs and leader of the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia (LDPR).
“Ilham Aliyev is truly a historic leader. He’s not just our most trusted partner and the leader of Azerbaijan, but he’s managed to solve what seemed like an unsolvable problem – Karabakh is now back home. Standing here in Shusha, Azerbaijan’s cultural capital, a city known for its history and legends, we can proudly say, Karabakh is Azerbaijan!” Slutsky remarked in an interview with Trend, CBC TV, and AzTV.
Slutsky also praised President Ilham Aliyev’s efforts in addressing many of Azerbaijan’s challenges. “The fight against poverty has been a success, Azerbaijan has long achieved energy independence, and the country has become the host of both the Baku International Humanitarian Forum and the First European Games. Moreover, the Heydar Aliyev
Foundation, led by First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva, is driving numerous humanitarian projects. There are more and more economic and social programs being implemented, all aimed at improving the lives of Azerbaijani families,” he added.
Slutsky shared that being in Shusha stirred deep emotions for him. “In the coming years, many unique and even high-tech projects will be launched here – projects that today might seem almost futuristic. Thousands of new jobs will be created. The land of Karabakh, as part of Azerbaijan, will return to the flourishing state it has historically been. People will come here. Standing in Shusha, Azerbaijan’s cultural heart, I can’t help but feel something special. Shusha is tied to the lives of many Azerbaijani cultural figures, and their legacies are woven into the country’s history. Those of us who hold Azerbaijan close to our hearts can compare the Azerbaijan of today with the past and truly see the remarkable transformation this country and its people have undergone,” Slutsky conclu
ded.
