Paris: President Ilham Aliyev has drawn attention to the significant impact of climate change on the overseas territories of France and the Netherlands, particularly those located in the Caribbean and Pacific regions. Speaking at the Leaders’ Summit of the Small Islands Developing States on Climate Change, which took place on November 13 as part of COP29, Aliyev emphasized the severe consequences faced by these areas.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, President Aliyev underscored the challenges posed by rising sea levels, extreme weather events, and biodiversity loss, which threaten the stability and livelihoods of these regions. He also highlighted that the voices of the affected communities are often suppressed by the ruling authorities in their respective metropolises. This statement was made as part of a broader discussion on neo-colonialism and climate change during the summit.
