Permanent rep of Kyrgyzstan to UN meets with ILO Director General

Permanent Representative of Kyrgyzstan to the United Nations and other international organizations in Geneva Almazbek Beishenaliev met with Director General of the International Labor Organization (ILO) Guy Ryder.

The permanent representative noted the high level of bilateral cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and ILO and thanked Ryder for assistance to the republic, including conducting a rapid assessment of the impact of the pandemic on the Kyrgyz economy and labor market and providing recommendations on coping with the COVID-19 pandemic.

In the course of the meeting the sides discussed current issues of bilateral cooperation of Kyrgyzstan and ILO; the project activities carried out by the organization in the country, as well as prospective areas of cooperation in reducing informal employment, assistance to migrants and their families, as well as conducting an inventory of labor legislation of Kyrgyzstan to bring it in line with international labor standards.

In turn, Ryder expressed satisfaction with the level of cooperation of ILO with Kyrgyzstan, noted the readiness of the Organization to continue to provide technical and expert assistance to Kyrgyzstan within the mandate of the Organization.
