A new shipment of 526,500 doses of Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine were delivered to Uzbekistan, the press service of the republic’s Health Ministry said.
The country intends to use it to vaccinate children over 12 years old.
The total amount of Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine delivered to Uzbekistan has reached 1 million 726 thousand 500 doses. Earlier, in mid-September, the first batch of the vaccine in the amount of 1.2 million doses was delivered to the country.
In Uzbekistan, with the consent of parents and guardians, children over 12 years are allowed to be vaccinated with Pfizer-BioNTech on a voluntary basis. As of Oct. 14, a total of 151,124 children from 12 to 18 years old were voluntarily vaccinated with the above-mentioned vaccine.
Overall, Uzbekistan will receive 800,000 doses of Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine and 1.7 million doses of Chinese Sinovac vaccine by the end of October.
