Jeyhun Bayramov, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, met Wednesday with Finnish Minister for Foreign Affairs Elina Valtonen on the margins of the high-level week of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

The two shared views on cooperation in bilateral and multilateral formats, including topics related to Finland’s upcoming chairmanship of the OSCE in 2025, as well as regional issues., as well as regional issues. They pointed out that the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change may create additional opportunities for cooperation.

Minister Bayramov provided a detailed update on the current situation and realities in the region, the process of normalizing relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

Azerbaijan’s FM said that the ongoing territorial claims against Azerbaijan in the Armenian legislation, as well as the rapid militarization of this country, are the main factors that pose a risk to the sustainable peace-building process
in the region. The sides exchanged views on other bilateral and multilateral issues of mutual interest.
