Pfizer BioNTech vaccine against coronavirus vaccine is expected to arrive in Kyrgyzstan under the COVAX international mechanism on Oct. 27, the press service of the country’s Health Ministry said Saturday.

Minister of Health of Kyrgyzstan Alymkadyr Beishenaliev visited the Republican Center for Immunoprophylaxis and inspected the conditions for storage and use of vaccines, and familiarized with the readiness of the center staff to receive, transport Pfizer vaccines. He was also informed about the technical characteristics of 4 low-temperature refrigerators received through the COVAX international mechanism.

In addition, the minister visited other public health organizations at the national level.

“We must be prepared for the epidemiological rise of seasonal viral diseases, including coronavirus infection. In this regard, the Department of Disease Prevention and State Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance laboratory units are currently planned to be expanded. In order to exclude long queues for PCR-study, we will constantly replenish the stock of necessary instruments and equipment,” Beishenaliev said.

He was informed in detail about the stock of necessary reagents and equipment for PCR research and familiarized with the work of COVID-19 diagnostic departments. The minister also checked the readiness of public health organizations for autumn-winter period.
