BAKU: Azerbaijan’s leadership is organizing COP29 at a high level, as confirmed by Makhtar Diop, Managing Director of the International Finance Corporation (IFC), during an interview with APA. Diop commended the country’s meticulous preparation for the international climate conference, noting it sets a precedent for effective global cooperation on climate issues.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Diop emphasized the importance of supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in their transition to a green economy. He noted that COP29 will feature significant discussions on investments aimed at bolstering this transition. The conference will serve as a platform for advancing strategies and partnerships that support SMEs in adopting sustainable practices.

The IFC Managing Director further highlighted the organization’s commitment to gender-based innovations for a climate-resilient future. Diop mentioned that the IFC has been actively investing in the transportation sector in countries like Colombia
and India, with the goal of promoting sustainable and inclusive growth. These efforts are part of a broader initiative to address climate change while fostering economic development.
