By the end of 2021, Uzbekistan plans to vaccinate 80% of its population, Deputy Prime Minister of the republic Bekhzod Musayev said during an open dialogue at the International Media Hall.
He noted that vaccination of population is the only sensible way to fight the coronavirus.
“Our citizens understand this as well. In addition to children over 12 years old who are voluntarily receive the vaccine, over 21 million people in our country are scheduled to be vaccinated. 60% of them have received their first dose of the vaccine so far,” he said.
Musayev added that by the end of the year, Uzbekistan plans to cover 80% of its population, which is the highest rate in the world.
As of today, more than 34.9 million doses of different vaccines against coronavirus have been produced or imported into Uzbekistan, and 24.5 million doses have been used.
AstraZeneca, ZF-UZ-VAC2001, Sputnik V, Moderna, Pfizer/BioNTech and Sinovac vaccines are used to inoculate the population of Uzbekistan.
