BISHKEK: The Shanghai Cooperation Organization’s Industry Committee plans to establish several companies in Kyrgyzstan, Trend reports.

This was announced during a meeting between Nurbek Anarbeki, Director of Kyrgyzstan’s Center for Public-Private Partnership, and representatives of the committee.

The planned companies include:

-Energy group, which will focus on developing thermal, hydroelectric, solar, and wind energy and creating an integrated electricity transmission and distribution network;

-Mining development group, aiming to explore high-value mineral resources and engage in mineral processing and refinement;

-Transport network development group to invest in roads, railways, airports, and terminals.

China is the primary trading partner for Kyrgyzstan. According to the Statistical Committee, the trade turnover between the two countries amounted to $2.712 billion from January through May 2024, accounting for 41.8 percent of Kyrgyzstan’s total trade turnover. The value increased by 52.3 percent year
over year.
