Bodies of Three Oil Workers Recovered After Flood Tragedy in Shabran

Baku: The bodies of three oil workers who tragically drowned in a recent flood in Azerbaijan’s Shabran region have been recovered. The incident has shocked the local community and raised concerns about safety measures in flood-prone areas.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the first body to be discovered was that of Fuzuli Mavlud Pashayev, a 63-year-old employee of the “Siyazanneft” Oil and Gas Production Department. His body was found by the riverbank near the village of Daghbiliji in Shabran. Pashayev was a resident of the Siyazan district, and it is reported that he drowned in the flood.

Further investigations revealed that Pashayev was not alone during the incident. The two other individuals who drowned were identified as Mammadov Gahraman Nurmammad, a 59-year-old resident from the Shirvan district, and Nagiyev Hafiz Etibar, a 63-year-old from the Salyan district. Both men were also employees of the “Siyazanneft” Oil and Gas Production Department.

The identities of the deceased individuals were confirmed through the efforts of local authorities. The bodies were recovered following a request for assistance received by the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Azerbaijan on April 16. The request pertained to the retrieval of the bodies from the Shabranchay River, which passes through the Khalfalar village in Shabran district.

In response, divers and rescuers from the Ministry’s State Service for Control over Small-Sized Vessels and Water Rescue were dispatched to the scene. Their operations led to the successful recovery of the bodies, which were then handed over to the relevant authorities for further investigation.

The Shabran District Prosecutor’s Office is currently conducting an investigation into the incident to determine the circumstances that led to this tragic event. The community awaits more information as the investigation unfolds.
