The first meeting of the Investment Council, chaired by Bishkek Mayor Aibek Dzhunushaliyev, was held Wednesday at the capital’s Mayor’s Office.

The press service of the Mayor’s office reported that the second deputy chairman of the council from the business community was elected during the meeting – Kairat Itibayev, chairman of the Association of Foreign Investors.

“Also, those present discussed promising areas of the Investment Council and the development of mechanisms for effective implementation”, the report said.

The meeting was also attended by heads of city services, representatives of business and the Council for Business and Entrepreneurship Development under the Jogorku Kenesh.

The Investment Council was established in February last year under the capital’s municipality and is aimed to promote the attraction of investments into the economy of the capital, to conduct a unified investment policy in Bishkek.

This consultative and advisory body will develop recommendations and proposals for the municipality to attract investments, create favorable conditions for investment activities, ensure sustainable development of the economy and support entrepreneurs.
