“Azerbaijan is discussing the practical aspects of gas supply and transportation using relevant systems with Slovakia,” Deputy Minister of Economy Anar Akhundov said at the Azerbaijan-Slovakia Business Forum, APA-Economics reports.
He noted that Azerbaijan plays an important role in ensuring Europe’s energy security: “Our goal is to export 20 billion cubic meters of gas annually to the European Union by 2027. Slovakia’s participation in the Solidarity Ring (STRING) gas corridor project holds significant importance for the development of our bilateral relations in the energy sector. Our cooperation within this project entered a new phase after the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding in 2023 in Sofia between SOCAR and the transmission system operators of Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, and Slovakia.”
